LANGUAGE

On Indonesia’s 922 inhabited islands, live more than 300 distinct ethnic groups who speak more than 300 mutually unintelligible languages !

Studies have shown that linguistic diversity increases eastward across the archipelago. Therefore, more languages can be found spoken in the eastern islands and these languages are more and more distinct from one another.

As a whole, Indonesian people have their own national language, which they call Bahasa Indonesia and this language is probably the only thing that connects Indonesian people together!
