LANGUAGE

For foreigners, it is recommended to learn the basic Indonesian language rather than the traditional Balinese.

Indonesian is understood perfectly by everybody on the island and it will come handy when you wish to travel to the other parts of Indonesia someday. (And, pstt…it is so much easier!)

Below are some of the important Indonesian words one needs to learn to get around both in Bali and in Indonesia:

I. PRONOUNS

I saya
You (singular) anda
You (plural) - anda
- kamu (for friends/children)
You (singular) - anda
- saudara-saudara
He, she dia
We - kami (exclusive)
- kita (inclusive)
Mr Bapak
Mrs Ibu
